When you are looking to buy a new archery target, something you plan on using and abusing, the warranty or guarantee a company offers often plays a big role in deciding on which target to buy.
But all too often, target companies offer warranties and guarantees outlined by fine print and fleeting promises.
Here’s a quick look at some of the most common target warranties that exist today:
One Year Warranties
Rhinehart manufactures some exceptional targets, but their one year warranty is less than exceptional. On one of their broadhead targets, the warranty requires that every single one of the 18 spots must be shot out with a 3” arrow grouping with arrow penetration to the nock for the target to be replaced. Does that seem reasonable? We didn’t think so either.
Two Year Warranties
Morrell produces some of the best cheap bag style targets on the market, but their two year warranty is unfortunately misleading. According to the warranty, they will replace any target that has been consistently shot through on all the spots on both the front and back. The warranty does not apply to the cover and the customer is required to pay all of the shipping costs.
Bulldog Targets claim to be the home of the lifetime warranty target. Their warranty guarantees that they will send you a free kit when the face is shot out, but the customer pays shipping. They also claim that the inner core of the target will never need replacement or repair, but we know that when shooting in a concentrated area for any length of time, the inner components will break down. Their warranty states that if this does occur, the customer can ship the target to them and they will repair it and ship it back. The customer pays for all the shipping and doesn’t even get a new target.
