TARGET SET-UP:

1. Keep It Off the Ground
Keep your target up and away from any potential moisture. This helps keep it clean and prevents water damage.
2. Avoid Solid Backing
Don’t place anything solid directly behind the target. Allowing the target to recoil when shot, reduces arrow penetration and improves target longevity.
3. Hang Your Target by the Handle
Hanging your target allows it to swing slightly, reducing arrow penetration. Also, keeping the target off the ground, saving you from bending over as much when removing arrows.
4. Cover Your Target When Left Outdoors
While it's not required, covering your target when left outside can help protect it from the UV rays, extending its lifespan. Though we haven’t seen major issues, we suggest that you cover your targets with a tarp or grill cover for added protection.

SHOOTING TIPS

Our tips and tricks are designed to enhance your shooting experience and boost your performance, whether you're using a crossbow, compound, or airbow.

1. Rotate your target

After about 50–75 shots, rotate your target and shoot the opposite side. This helps the internal core of the target shift and settle evenly, which extends the life of your target and maintains consistent stopping power.

2. Avoid Single-spot Shooting

The worst mistake you can make is shooting most of your arrows in the same spot. Arrow manufacturers might love it —because it means you’ll need to replace your arrows more often. While some target companies benefit too, since worn-out targets lead to buying new ones more frequently. But SpyderWeb Targets are specially designed so you won’t have to replace your arrows or your target anytime soon.

3. Double-Check Your Sight

Bumps happen, and sights can shift —especially after transporting your bow. Before taking longer shots, fire a few close-range arrows to confirm your sight is still accurate. Use our clover-shaped pattern in the middle of our target and hit the five different spots. Avoid grouping all arrows in one area to prevent damaging them.

4. SHOOT AT DIFFERENT DISTANCES

Moving your shots around the target not only helps improve your accuracy, but also extends the life of your target while reducing the risk of ruined or damaged arrows. Check out our 200+ aiming points available for you to choose from.

SpyderWeb Long Range Aiming Points Locations

LONG-RANGE SHOOTING

For long-range practice, focus on our points in the center of the target, reducing your chances of hitting the edges. You’ll see five center spots intentionally designed for long-distance shooting. This setup allows you to shoot five arrows at-a-time, so you don't have to continue walking back and forth — while reducing the risk of damaged arrows by keeping them spaced apart.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Do you have a problem with your target? Though it's uncommon, we know situations can arise when practicing. So here's our best methods to quickly fix potential issues like: arrows getting stuck, unexpected pass-throughs, or a bulging target face. At the end of the day, our intent is for you to spend less time worrying and more time shooting.

Arrows Hanging Up on the Target Face

When arrows get stuck in the target face, it's typically caused by the arrow, insert, or tip not being flush.

  • If the tip is the issue, try tips that match the arrow shaft’s diameter to reduce any potential hang-ups.
  • If the problem is with the insert or outsert, it’s easy to fix — When removing arrows, swirl them gently in a circular motion to widen the Spylar Mesh strands apart, enlarging the hole on the target face. You might still feel some resistance, but it will be much less than if the arrow is stuck.

ARROW PASS-THROUGHS

While unlikely, pass-throughs can happen. It usually means a soft spot has developed within the core of your target. Stepping on it won’t help move the stuffing back into place — so let your arrows do the work instead.

Here's two ways we suggest to fix it:
1. Shoot Around the Soft Spot
Think of the soft spot as the center of a clock. Aim about 3 inches away at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. This will push the stuffing back toward the center, strengthening the core again.

2. Change Up your Shooting Angle
Slightly angle your shots to move the stuffing. Instead of shooting straight on, take some steps to the right or left. This helps push the stuffing back into the soft area as it penetrates.

TARGET FACE BULGING

No need to worry — this is simply a sign that it’s time to rotate your target and start shooting the other side. Doing so will help redistribute the stuffing back toward the center, restoring the target’s shape and performance — Additional Tip: Do NOT shoot into any bulging area. Shooting the side with a bulge increases will risk a pass-through.

TARGET FACE IS SHOT OUT

Congratulations — that kind of wear simply means that you’ve put in a lot of shooting! Unfortunately, we don’t recommend swapping out the target face. Think of it as “putting lipstick on a pig” — it might look better on the outside, but it won’t solve the real issue.

The inner core of the target is what stops your arrows, and getting it back to its original condition is nearly impossible. Plus, the cost of refacing would be impractical, compared to just investing into a new target.
